Résumé
What is a Résumé?
In general terms, it is a document which contains the work profile of an individual. Résumé (French word) can also be referred as bio-data or curriculum vitae (CV).
A candidate who wishes to apply for a job prepares this document. Of course, nowadays job websites provide this service by charging some fees to make the résumé attractive. And there are these professional Résumé Writers, who have expertise in making a marketable profile.
The trend of getting this document prepared by the professional writers is picking up; (and yes, we do have the AI based tools to help us, if we want to do it ourselves). Have you ever thought why this document is so important? General opinion is that it includes the keywords, makes the document attractive enough to get shortlisted for a job vacancy. So, is this the only reason to write an attractive résumé?
No doubt this is one of the main reasons for drafting a good résumé. But there is another important facet to it, i.e. Authenticity.
Importance of a Genuine Résumé
A good résumé plays an important role even after a candidate is shortlisted. It is considered as the professional auto-biography of the candidate. Interviewer tries to establish the authenticity of the document by framing the questions based on the content of the résumé. And if the interviewer during the interview process suspects that the interviewee has not enlisted the correct information in the document, the candidate looses the prospective job.
Make sure that your resume is a true representation of what you are 😀
